About the Data Engineering Team Everybody has data, but the sheer volume of data at arenaflex can be boundless. In our Data Engineering team, we help arenaflex manage this data by building pipelines and data lakes to prepare big data for analysis and unlocking meaningful insights in real-time. We also use cross-departmental data and artificial intelligence to build a holistic view of true profit, saving thousands of dollars across item categories and geographies while helping our leadership make better decisions faster. As an Information Modeler, you will dive into this massive amount of data to help unleash the power of retail data science by designing, creating, and maintaining data models that our Data Designers, Researchers, and Analysts can rely on. You will collaborate with Data Designers, Data Scientists, Stewards, various specialists, and business partners to solve complex and stimulating modeling and analytical challenges so we can build capabilities that grow the retail business model while having a positive impact on our customers' lives. What You'll Do As an Information Modeler at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining the foundational data structures that power our entire analytics ecosystem. Your work will directly impact our ability to serve customers better, optimize operations, and drive innovation across the organization. Data Strategy Implementation Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, build data streams, and develop robust data models that support our business objectives. Logical and Physical Data Modeling Create logical and physical data models using industry best practices to ensure high data quality and support application, team, and business use cases. Model Development and Maintenance Create, enhance, and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects according to company standards and guidelines. Multi-Database Expertise Develop data modeling solutions optimized for relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases, ensuring flexibility and performance across platforms. Metadata Management Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with corresponding metadata to ensure accuracy and accessibility. Best Practices Implementation Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models across the organization. Model Reuse Optimization Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments, maximizing return on investment and reducing development time. Database Analysis Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts to understand existing structures and dependencies. Quality Assurance Evaluate data models and physical databases for changes and errors, ensuring data integrity and performance. Business Object Validation Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness, working closely with business stakeholders. System Integration Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions to ensure seamless data flow. Cross-Functional Guidance Guide System Analysts, Engineers, Developers, and others on project boundaries and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces. Code Review and Optimization Review modifications to existing software to improve efficiency and performance. Design Evaluation Examine new application design and recommend corrections when needed to ensure optimal data architecture. What You'll Bring We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in data warehousing and information modeling. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data excellence and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Essential Qualifications Educational Background Strong academic record and graduation (B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech/MBA) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Industry Experience Minimum of 10+ years of hands-on data warehousing experience with a proven track record of success. Modeling Expertise Solid knowledge of different data modeling techniques for data warehousing, including 3NF, dimensional, hybrid, and data vault methodologies. Scale Experience Experience managing large-scale (100 TB+) data warehouses (DW) or operational data stores (ODS), with the ability to handle massive data volumes effectively. Technology Proficiency Extensive experience building data models for MPP, relational, and NoSQL technologies such as BigData, Hive, SQL Server, Hadoop, Cassandra, and cloud databases like BigQuery and/or Snowflake. Collaborative Skills Great experience working with globally distributed teams in a cooperative and productive manner, with the ability to navigate time zones and cultural differences. Communication Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills across a variety of stakeholders, with the ability to negotiate with and influence others. Minimum Requirements (Choose One) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years' experience in data modeling, data analysis, data warehouse, programming, or related field. 5 years' experience in data modeling, data analysis, data warehouse, programming, or related field. Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 1 year's experience in data modeling, data analysis, data warehouse, programming, or related field. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems. Relevant industry experience in retail, supply chain, e-commerce, healthcare, or similar sectors. Certification in data modeling or data engineering methodologies. Experience with cloud-based data platforms and architecture. Knowledge of machine learning and AI data pipelines.
