<p><span>Raw America, the fastest-growing reader-funded news network, is seeking a fearless Capitol Hill reporter to interview politicians and cover breaking news on the Hill. Created by the founders of Raw Story and Really American, Raw America is a large Substack and YouTube brand building the infrastructure to fight back against the billionaire capture of American media.</span></p><p><br></p><p><span>This is not an entry-level position. </span><strong>Applicants must have existing relationships with Congressional staff and members of Congress. If you believe in holding power accountable, and you're fed up with access journalism and corporate stenography, this role is for you.</span></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Reporting directly to Raw America leadership, you'll be responsible for:</strong></p><p><br></p><ol><li><strong>On-the-ground Capitol Hill interviews</strong><span> - Interviewing members of Congress on the move and scheduling Congressional interviews. </span></li><li><strong>Breaking stories that expose corruption</strong><span> and delivering real-time coverage of Congressional developments that matter to our progressive audience.</span></li><li><strong>Covering critical national stories </strong><span>on topics of interest to readers, for example, the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, violent ICE arrests, and fights against data centers.</span></li><li><strong>Video-first storytelling</strong><span> - Creating compelling YouTube content, livestreams, and social media videos that cut through political spin and deliver unvarnished truth.</span></li><li><strong>Source development</strong><span> - Building relationships with lawmakers, staffers, whistleblowers, and activists who can provide insight into what's really happening behind closed doors</span></li><li><strong>Breaking news coverage</strong><span> - Rapid response reporting on developing political stories, with ability to go live and provide immediate analysis.</span></li><li><strong>Out of session research</strong><span> - When Congress is out of session, digging into voting records, financial disclosures and lobbying connections to expose hypocrisy and corruption.</span></li><li><strong>Cross-platform content</strong><span> - Ability to write a weekly column, create social media content, and collaborate with our video team.</span></li><li><strong>Event coverage</strong><span> - Attending hearings, press conferences, protests, and other political events to capture footage and interviews. </span></li></ol><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li><strong>Congressional relationships </strong><span>-</span><strong> </strong><span>You must have existing relationships on the Hill. This is not an entry-level position.</span></li><li><strong>Political sophistication</strong><span> - Deep knowledge of how Congress actually works and who the key players are.</span></li><li><strong>News judgment</strong><span> - Ability to spot the real story beneath political theater and craft headlines that break through the noise.</span></li><li><strong>Video storytelling skills</strong><span> - Being an expert on video production is not required but on-camera experience is. You should be able to conduct live interviews with members of Congress and be interviewed on-camera. </span></li><li><strong>Fearless interviewing</strong><span> - Comfortable confronting politicians with tough questions and following up when they dodge.</span></li><li><strong>Digital native</strong><span> - You should have an understanding of YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other platforms where political conversations happen.</span></li><li><strong>Multi-platform production</strong><span> - Ability to shoot and publish content quickly across multiple formats.
