Job Category Technology Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. If so, we are seeking a senior leader to join the Travelers Enterprise Technology Services Enterprise Architecture team, supporting our Cybersecurity organization. As part of this strategic and collaborative organization, you will help transform our business and technology capabilities. You will report directly to the VP, Enterprise Chief Architect, with a dual reporting relationship to the Chief Information Security Officer and you will collaborate with senior technology, business, and functional leaders to influence and innovate solutions that impact Travelers' business. Scope: Responsible for architecture for our cyber security organization, which provides oversight and support for our technology and business partners while leading a team of Cybersecurity Architects of varying levels. Cybersecurity Zero Trust Architecture: Advancing the target-state Cybersecurity Zero Trust architecture for the enterprise across all security domains including endpoint, mobile, web, access, encryption, network security, visibility, application, and data security concepts. Securing cloud-native infrastructure and container platforms Implementing security frameworks for API ecosystems and digital platforms Developing security patterns for AI platforms and enterprise data ecosystems Ensuring security architecture aligns with enterprise modernization initiatives Define architecture to address Identity and Access Management modernization as well as threat mitigation techniques. Technical Execution: Define and lead technology proof of concepts to ensure feasibility of architecture solutions. Proactively identify opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise. Drive continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt. Conduct hands-on prototyping of new technology solutions. Partner with Technology and Business leadership to ensure proper alignment with technology direction and execution of proof of technologies. Strategic Accountability: Provide strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principles and technology modernization. Provide visionary leadership to a high-performing team, aligning individual goals with broader organizational objectives Engage with senior leadership within Technology and Business to develop architecture priorities and direction to enable business imperatives and gain buy-in. Prepare and deliver communications to convey architectural direction. Drive strategic relationships and champion organizational buy-in. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Technical Expertise & Education: Bachelor’s degree in technology-related field or equivalent, with 8 to 10 years of architecture experience. Advanced level architecture and recent hands-on strong engineering experience with modern technologies. Successful execution of complex, large scale technology strategies. AWS Security Specialty Certification preferred. Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM)approaches, technology and procedure. Working knowledge of Zero Trust principles, application security, and threat/vulnerability management. Demonstrated proficiency in designing security solutions that align to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Cloud Security Alliance methodologies Leadership & Influence: Advanced leadership skills with the ability to leverage cross-functional networks to collaborate with architecture and engineering leaders on problem-solving, build company-wide credibility, prioritize critical architectural challenges, and strengthen the Architecture organization through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and creating development opportunities for team members. Proven track record of Influencing C-level leadership. Strategic & Business Acumen: Extensive experience working in an agile operational model. Advanced experience supporting transformational change. Able to adjust plans, priorities and strategies in response to changing circumstances. Experience developing technology target states and roadmaps that align to short- and long-term business goals. Insurance technology experience preferred. Strong understanding of value creation and business capability models. Strong knowledge of the insurance industry. Advanced experience identifying and analyzing current/future problems and opportunities, evaluating information to understand root causes, and exploring alternative solutions for effective decision-making. Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve mutually responsible results. Extensive experience exercising sound judgment, making decisions and committing to a position. Advanced and effective verbal, written and listening communication skills. What is a Must Have? Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience. 10 additional years of architecture/software engineering experience. 5 years of technical leadership experience.
