Online Clothing Designer

A good garment starts as a rough sketch, gets refined through a dozen small adjustments, and eventually becomes something a client can't stop wearing. That entire process — from first idea to finished piece — can happen without a physical studio. This role is built around doing exactly that, remotely. About the role As an Online Clothing Designer, you'll take concepts from sketch to finished garment using digital tools rather than a traditional workspace. The work spans sustainable streetwear one morning and a luxury capsule collection by afternoon, with pattern drafting, fabric selection, and trend research woven throughout. It's design work with real creative range, supported by a team that stays genuinely connected despite working apart. What you'll be doing Creating fashion sketches and illustrations that capture a client or brand's vision. Building digital garment patterns and 3D mockups using apparel design software. Refining fabric selections and digital textile designs to match a collection's concept. Adjusting designs based on team feedback and evolving project requirements. Researching global fashion trends to keep design concepts current and relevant. Collaborating with teammates on mood boards, prototypes, and collection planning. Contributing to sustainable and ethically minded apparel design practices. What you'll need to bring Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree in fashion design, apparel design, or a related field. Experience: a minimum of 2 years in clothing or apparel design, including some exposure to digital design tools. Beyond the credentials, the designers who succeed here tend to bring: A willingness to refine a pattern or silhouette repeatedly until it's actually right. Openness to feedback, treating it as a step toward a better design rather than criticism. Genuine curiosity about where fashion trends are heading, not just where they've been. A real interest in sustainable and inclusive approaches to apparel design. Comfort working independently while staying engaged with a distributed team. Skills required Proficiency with Fashion CAD tools and digital apparel design software. Strong pattern drafting and garment construction knowledge. Experience building 3D garment mockups or digital prototypes. Solid understanding of current fashion and textile trends. Skills that set you apart Experience with digital fabric or textile creation specifically. Background contributing to sustainable or ethically sourced apparel lines. A track record of leading a design project from concept through to final piece. Prior experience mentoring or cross-training with other designers. What a typical week looks like Some days center on digital fabric work for a streetwear collection; others shift toward mood boards for something more refined. Trend research sessions and quick brainstorming calls fill in the gaps, and when a color palette or silhouette isn't landing, the team works through it together rather than leaving one designer to solve it alone. Themed design challenges — building a capsule wardrobe for a fictional character, for instance — keep the work varied and genuinely fun. How the team works together The team blends newer designers with industry veterans, and feedback moves openly between both. Weekly creative check-ins and informal catch-ups keep remote work from feeling isolated. Roles like this often surface on platforms such as Naukri Mitra, where designers specifically search for remote fashion positions that offer real creative ownership rather than repetitive template work. Compensation and benefits This role pays $82,000 annually. Along with the salary, you'll receive: Flexible hours that let you work during your most productive creative stretches. Access to professional-grade Fashion CAD tools and design platforms. A learning budget to explore new tools and techniques outside your usual scope. Opportunities to lead design projects from concept through completion. Where this role can lead Designers here often start with smaller illustration or pattern tasks and grow into leading full garment creation projects. Many expand into new specializations over time — textile design, trend forecasting, or mentoring newer team members — building a broader, more versatile design portfolio along the way. Apply for this role If you'd rather build something original than follow a template, and you care about where fashion is headed as much as what it looks like today, this role fits. Send through your application along with a portfolio of your strongest work, and the team will follow up with next steps. Global applicants welcome: candidates from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, Australia, India, and other eligible regions worldwide are encouraged to apply.
