Role Description

The Creative Director, Marketing leads campaign concepts, art direction, and day-to-day creative execution for French Florist’s Marketing team. This role turns the brand’s premium positioning into compelling campaigns, content, and sales materials, with clear ownership of the team’s work and routine creative approvals.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this hands-on leader manages the Marketing creative team, including the Production Designer, and produces work alongside them. The role partners with the VP of Brand, Experience & Innovation, who owns company-wide brand identity, standards, and experience direction. Within those standards, the Creative Director has the authority to lead and approve Marketing creative without routing every asset through the VP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing Creative Direction
    • Develop campaign concepts and creative direction that support Marketing priorities and express French Florist’s premium positioning.
    • Apply established brand standards across Marketing photography, art direction, typography, color, and copy, and recommend improvements in partnership with Brand, Experience & Innovation.
    • Own routine Marketing creative approvals within established standards; align with the VP of Brand, Experience & Innovation on exceptions or changes to foundational brand direction.
  • Cross-Channel Creative Execution
    • Lead creative for paid and organic campaigns, social, email, e-commerce content, product photography, sales collateral, and franchise and grand-opening materials.
    • Keep Marketing assets consistent across channels; contribute to packaging and retail projects when agreed with Brand, Experience & Innovation.
    • Direct Marketing photo and video shoots and manage the creative work of external agencies, photographers, and vendors.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Manage, mentor, and develop the Marketing creative team, including the Production Designer.
    • Partner with Brand, Experience & Innovation, Product, Technology, and Operations to translate agreed business priorities and brand direction into effective Marketing creative.
    • Support franchise stakeholders with brand-compliant creative assets and guidance for local activations and grand openings.
  • Process & Quality
    • Lead creative assignments and approvals through the existing project-management process.
    • Review Marketing creative for quality and brand consistency, resolve routine decisions independently, and flag scope or capacity conflicts early.
    • Manage approved creative budgets and vendors.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in creative/brand direction, including at least 2–3 years in a Creative Director, Marketing or similar leadership role.
  • Proven experience building and expressing premium, consumer-facing brands—ideally in retail, DTC / e-commerce, hospitality, beauty, or lifestyle categories.
  • Experience directing creative across both digital and physical / retail environments.
  • Experience managing photo/video shoots and external creative partners (photographers, agencies, freelancers).
  • Experience building or scaling creative for a multi-location or franchise business is a plus.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong art direction and brand craft across multiple mediums.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Exceptional taste and a sharp eye for premium visual craft.
  • Strong strategic thinking paired with hands-on execution ability.
  • Ability to translate brand strategy into compelling, consistent creative across channels.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent collaborator across marketing, product, and operations.
  • Comfortable balancing creative ambition with the practical needs of a fast-growing, multi-location business.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an office / studio-based role requiring extended periods of computer work.
  • Occasional travel to boutique locations, photo / video shoots, or franchise events.
  • Ability to attend and direct on-site photo / video shoots as needed.

What Makes This Role Exciting

This is an opportunity to lead the Marketing creative team for a growing premium brand built on beauty, craft, and care. The Creative Director will have real ownership of campaign ideas, creative quality, and the team’s development, with a strong brand foundation and close cross-functional partners to build from.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $140,000 - $155,000/year + up to 10% bonus, assessed quarterly, based on performance.
  • Paid Time Off and Professional Development Stipend.
  • Employee stock option eligibility after one year.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
