About the role

We're looking for a part-time grant writer to join our team. You'll research, write, and submit grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, and corporate sponsors. This role is perfect for someone new to grant writing who's eager to learn and develop their skills in a supportive environment.

What you'll do

Grant Research & StrategyYou'll identify funding opportunities that match our organizational goals, maintain tracking calendars for deadlines, and develop multi-year funding strategies. We'll provide full training on how to research and evaluate opportunities, and you'll have support every step of the way.

Proposal DevelopmentYou'll draft and edit grant applications, working with our team to gather the information needed. Tasks include writing clear proposals, preparing budgets with our finance team, drafting letters of inquiry and concept papers, and compiling supporting documents. Don't worry if you haven't done this before—we'll guide you through each component.

Agency LiaisonYou'll navigate various online portals and submission platforms used by funding agencies. We'll teach you how these systems work and provide resources as you learn.

CollaborationYou'll work with our staff and stakeholders to gather project information, technical data, and budget details for proposals. Our team is collaborative and supportive.

ReportingYou'll assist with post-award documentation and reporting to ensure we meet funder requirements.

Skills/background needed

You should have strong written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Experience with grant writing or familiarity with federal funding systems is a plus, but not required—we provide full training. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF software is helpful. You'll also need to be comfortable translating technical information into clear language for a general audience.

Education/Experience

A bachelor's degree in communications, technical writing, environmental science, public administration, or a related field is preferred. Prior grant writing experience is valued but not required for entry-level candidates. A valid driver's license is required.

Work Environment

This is primarily an office-based position with some flexibility for remote or hybrid work (subject to discussion). You'll need to be available for occasional virtual meetings during standard business hours. The role averages 20–24 hours per week.

Rate:Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
