Sony Electronics is looking for an Expert Solutions Architect to join our Network Solutions team, remotely based in Central or Western US. You will be responsible for the technical lead in the entire sales process, from early business development and solution design to producing and presenting the final technical proposal. As part of this process, customers are guided through the varied choices of technology and solution designs. Hence, our solution architects have broad knowledge of applications and technologies used in broadcast new media, and transport workflows with the confidence and persuasiveness to deliver the information effectively.

Our Solutions Architects are trusted advisors to our customers, while planning and designing their next generation IP solutions. This customer engagement provides valuable input from the market regarding current- and future requirements and trends. By relaying this information back to product management, the Solution Architect becomes an important link between customer needs and Sony’s product development organization. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and will be focused on results, well organized, detail oriented, with a proven track record for delivering on-time and with a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Job Description:

  • Serve as the field team’s Technical Guru leading both pre-and post-sales design and planning sessions.

  • Work hands-on with customers to demonstrate and communicate implementation best practices on Sony’s Networked Solutions portfolio including IP Live, Nevion, and IP-enabled hardware.

  • Perform a consultative role in understanding the customer workflow and separating what are requirements and what are wants and how best to position the solution portfolio.

  • Present IP-based technologies and solutions to broadcasters, telecom operators and business partners

  • Act as the technical solution owner and engage in discussions with customers throughout the entire sales cycle.

  • Analyze customer requirements for next generation IP-based broadcast solutions.

  • Design high-level solutions that meet customer requirements.

  • Develop detailed solution designs and Bill-of-Materials.

  • Inform product management (and PPB) about requests for new features and applications

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical definition, create solution proposals and support SOW development and execution

  • Lead and participate in remote or onsite Proof-of-Concepts at customer premises

  • Analyze and data mine information provided by customers for structure and content validity

  • Analyze customer requirements during the pre-sales process and oversee the implementation of the solution during the delivery phase

  • Define and validate Sony solutions to meet customer goals and objectives

  • Work with customers during the technical planning phase to integrate the Sony solutions into the customer’s environment.

  • Work with internal technical teams for product placement and feature improvements for reliability, availability, and serviceability.

  • Document technical and commercial requirements to ensure continuity of communications both external and internal; externally towards customers, partners, and consultants, and internally with Product Management, Professional Services, Customer Support, and Management

  • Capture customer feedback on product enhancements and challenge the organization through ongoing innovation

  • Focus on product roadmaps to constantly improve the value of our service offerings for our customers and hold vendors accountable for deliverables, including by not limited to technical specifications, implementation specifications and service delivery standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related technical field. Master’s degree or higher preferred

  • 5-7 years of experience designing and deploying live production environments for broadcast television

  • 3+ years of experience with designing, deploying, and supporting complex SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based media environments

  • A strong understanding of video contribution technologies including deep knowledge of modern compression algorithms such as JPEG2000, JPEG XS, H.264, H.265, and TICO

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator in English (other language skills are a plus)

  • High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organization

  • Strong organization and time‐management skills

  • Strong knowledge of IP networking and ideally also of broadcast technologies

  • Proven track record in technical solution selling

  • Comfortable in a virtual working environment and working from home

  • Ability to travel between 90 to 120 days per year

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $101,000 to $134,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave.
