Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

About Us

Integrate is building the first real-time, cross-boundary project management platform for the world’s most complex programs. We started with one of the most complex customers on earth, the U.S. government. Its programs span thousands of people, multiple organizations, billion-dollar budgets, and differentiated security environments. And somehow, too much of that work still runs on stale schedules, spreadsheets, hand-built slides, and project management software stuck in the Tetris era.

We’re changing that. Based in Seattle, Integrate has secured a $25 million U.S. Space Force contract and expanded across government and commercial programs, raised a $17 million Series A led by FPV Ventures, secured backing from J.P. Morgan, and built software that operates across government and commercial environments, from unclassified work to Top Secret networks.

We move fast, keep the egos low, and make room for quirks, strong opinions, fun, and the occasional chaos of building things from scratch with extreme velocity. We offer strong benefits, real ownership, and ambitious work with people you actually want to be around.

Our Solution

Integrate gives complex programs something they have never had before. One real-time schedule that can operate across organizations, security boundaries, and classification levels without fragmenting the schedule.

The program stays live as it changes. Teams can see how the program has moved, understand how a change ripples downstream, surface risk before it compounds, and control access down to the individual element. And our AI architecture works from that same continuously updated program state. It understands what is happening now, not a report assembled days or weeks ago. The schedule stops being a static plan and becomes a living reflection of the program itself.

We’re nowhere near done. We want to set a new standard for how the world’s most complex work gets done, and we won’t stop until we do.

About the Role

This is not a shadowing internship. From your first week, you'll contribute to real, customer-facing features that ship to production alongside the rest of our engineering team's work. We don't create separate intern projects. You'll work on the same product, tackle meaningful engineering challenges, and have the opportunity to see the impact of what you build.

As a growing startup, every engineer's contributions matter, including our interns. You'll work closely with experienced engineers, collaborate with product and design, and gain firsthand exposure to how technical and product decisions are made.

You'll also have support along the way, including weekly manager check-ins, a dedicated engineering buddy, and opportunities to learn through code reviews and team collaboration.

Our goal is for you to leave the summer having shipped meaningful work, grown as an engineer, and gained real-world experience building software used by teams developing rockets, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

What You’ll Work On

  • Build and ship real features: Contribute to customer-facing functionality across our React and TypeScript frontend and our micro-service based architecture that includes languages such as Go, Python, and Rust.

  • Own your work end-to-end: Participate in the full development lifecycle, from scoping and design through testing, deployment, and production.

  • Collaborate across teams: Work alongside engineering, product, and design to solve problems, make thoughtful technical decisions, and participate in code reviews.

  • Learn how we build and ship: Gain hands-on experience debugging production systems, monitoring performance, and deploy to multiple environments through a mature CI/CD pipeline.

  • Make an impact: Share your work at our company-wide Feature Friday and contribute to engineering documentation and processes that help the team improve.

Tech Stack

Our core stack includes React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind CSS, Go, SQL, and REST. We also use GitHub Actions, Playwright, React Testing Library, Linear, and feature-flagged continuous deployment.

Internship projects typically involve a mix of 60% frontend and 40% backend, though this will vary based on team priorities and project needs.

What We're Looking For

We don't expect you to know everything. We're looking for students with a strong technical foundation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

  • Currently a junior in an undergraduate program or pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date within approximately 18 months.

  • Working knowledge of React, TypeScript or JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

  • Understanding of REST APIs and how frontend and backend systems work together.

  • Exposure to Go, SQL, or another backend language through coursework, internships, or personal projects.

  • Ability to navigate unfamiliar code, reason through problems, and learn new technologies quickly.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where priorities can shift and ambiguity is part of the process.

  • Curious, proactive, and open to feedback. You're not afraid to ask questions, take initiative, and contribute ideas.

Nice to Have: Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, GitHub Actions, Playwright, or React Testing Library, as well as previous internship experience or substantial personal software projects.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
