<h4><strong>About the Job:</strong></h4> <p>LaunchDarkly is hiring a Senior Counsel to support our growing legal function. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this role provides legal support across product, privacy, corporate, and employment matters in a global SaaS business.</p> <p>You will partner with cross-functional teams to help execute on legal workstreams, applying sound judgment to balance legal risk with business needs. This role is suited for an attorney who can independently handle defined work areas while escalating more complex or ambiguous issues.</p> <h4>Responsibilities:</h4> <ul> <li>Provide legal input to product, engineering, and go-to-market teams on data privacy, intellectual property, and compliance considerations, with support from senior legal team members as needed</li> <li>Translate legal guidance into clear recommendations for stakeholders, escalating higher-risk or novel issues appropriately</li> <li>Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including corporate documents, IP licenses, and marketing agreements</li> <li>Contribute to the development and maintenance of legal templates, playbooks, and processes to improve consistency and efficiency</li> <li>Partner with cross-functional teams to support compliance initiatives and implementation of company policies</li> <li>Partner with and manage outside counsel where specialized expertise is required</li> <li>Assist with legal support for international operations, including coordinating with outside counsel where appropriate</li> <li>Help develop and deliver training across the organization on relevant legal topics</li> <li>Advise and assist on general legal needs as they arise </li> </ul> <h4>Qualifications:</h4> <ul> <li>Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction</li> <li>At least 8 years of legal experience, including some in-house or equivalent client-facing experience</li> <li>Experience providing legal advice to SaaS companies</li> <li>Foundational knowledge of data privacy, intellectual property, and technology transactions</li> <li>Ability to manage a defined set of responsibilities and prioritize multiple tasks with guidance</li> <li>Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and incorporating feedback into legal recommendations</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to Haves: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting international transactions or working with non-US entities</li> <li>Experience counseling on AI matters </li> <li>Familiarity with legal operations tools</li> <li>Experience working in a high-growth or scaling environment</li> </ul> <h4>What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)</h4> <ul> <li>Provides clear and accurate legal guidance on common issues, seeking input from senior team members and/or outside counsel on higher-risk matters</li> <li>Builds effective working relationships with cross-functional partners and responds to requests in a timely manner</li> <li>Contributes to improvements in at least one legal team process</li> <li>Develops increased familiarity with the company’s risk tolerance and escalation practices</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Location and Work Arrangement</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Based in the United States</li> <li>Ability to travel to the Oakland headquarters [as needed]</li> </ul> <p class="p1"><strong>Pay:</strong></p> <p class="p1"><em>Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level 4: </em></p> <ul class="ul1"> <li class="li1">Zone 1: <em>San Francisco/Bay Area or NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle</em> - $<em><span class="collapsed-field-text">152,900 - $210,210</span></em>**</li> <li class="li1">Zone 2:<em> Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago - </em>$137,600 - $189,200**</li> <li class="li1">Zone 3: <em>All other US locations - </em>$<em><span class="collapsed-field-text">129,900 - $178,640 </span></em>**</li> </ul> <p class="p1"><em>LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs.
