Residential Security Officer - Residential Housing

Schedule: Afternoon, night, and weekend shifts required
Start Date: Immediate openings

We are hiring dependable and professional Security Officers for a supportive housing building. Qualified candidates must be available to begin work immediately and maintain a courteous, reassuring presence for residents, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Staff the lobby security desk and monitor activity within the building.
  • Sign-in visitors and tenants of the program
  • Monitor overnight passes
  • Enforce facility rules
  • Monitor CCTV
  • Conduct scheduled vertical patrols and scan all assigned checkpoints accurately.
  • Maintain a visible security presence to reassure residents and deter unauthorized activity.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and other incidents according to post orders.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, loitering, fire or smoke, property damage, debris, hazards, and unsafe conditions.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and timely online incident reports and daily activity reports.
  • Professionally communicate building rules and policies to residents, visitors, contractors, and staff.
  • Coordinate with property management, the building superintendent, supervisors, and other officers.
  • Properly operate a two-way radio and follow established communication procedures.
  • Follow all post orders, emergency procedures, company policies, and supervisor instructions.

Qualifications

  • Available to begin work immediately.
  • Dependable, punctual, attentive, and professional.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand post orders and prepare accurate reports.
  • Comfortable using a tablet to complete online reports.
  • Able to operate a two-way radio.
  • Able to interact respectfully and professionally with senior residents, visitors, employees, and management.
  • Available for afternoon, night, and weekend shifts.
  • Able to hold for relief and be subject to schedule changes
  • Possess any security license or registration required by applicable state or local law.

Physical and Work Requirements

The position involves sitting, standing, walking, and conducting patrols for extended periods. Officers may occasionally be required to patrol an outdoor parking lot in varying weather conditions. Applicants must be able to perform the position's essential duties safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay Notice: Effective January 1, 2027, covered new hires and unarmed security guards with 0-36 months of employment will be paid at least $18.87 per hour pursuant to NYC Local Law 61 of 2026. Higher rates may apply based on classification, service, training, and certifications
