About the Role

As a Remote Medical Coding Specialist for Amazon One Medical, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of medical coding for our Senior Health program. You'll work closely with our Clinical and Revenue Cycle teams to review and code claims, manage multiple projects, and stay up-to-date with the latest coding guidelines and regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Coding and Claims Review: Code all claims for Senior Health, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple coding-related projects and ensure deliverables meet One Medical standards and are completed within acceptable timeframes.
  • Coding Guidelines and Regulations: Stay current with CPT, ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic Guidance, and CMS Risk Adjustment guidance to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with the Medicare Risk Operations team to ensure positive program outcomes and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Email Requests and Timely Completion: Review and complete email requests in a timely manner, ensuring prompt responses to queries and concerns.
  • Other Duties and Projects: Perform other duties and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Professional Coder Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Professional Coder in an office setting, including risk adjustment coder/auditor experience.
  • Medicare/Medicare Advantage Experience: 1+ year of experience in Medicare/Medicare Advantage, with a deep understanding of relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • CPC or CCS Certification: CPC certification through AAPC or CCS certification through AHIMA, demonstrating expertise in medical coding.
  • CRC Certification: CRC certification must be obtained within one year of hire, highlighting a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Microsoft or Google Suite Skills: Strong experience in Microsoft or Google suite, particularly in spreadsheets and PowerPoint, to effectively manage data and communicate insights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Health Systems Operations Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of health systems operations, including reimbursement methodologies and coding conventions.
  • Profee and HCC Risk Adjustment Experience: Advanced knowledge and understanding of Profee and HCC Risk Adjustment, coding, and documentation requirements.
  • Coding Production Environment Experience: Previous experience in a coding production environment, with a proven track record of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Trend Identification and Communication: Ability to identify and communicate trends in provider coding and documentation, highlighting insights and recommendations.
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, communication, and attention to detail skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Organizational and Analytical Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
