Visit nchjobs.org to learn more.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>JOB SUMMARY</b></p> </p> <p class="Approval1">The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing basic care to patients following established standards and practices. </p> <p> </p> <p><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p> </p> <p class="Approval1">Other duties may be assigned. </p> <p>· Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow. </p> <p>· Escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patient observations and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers. </p> <p>· Assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. </p> <p>· Collecting patient history including current medications, allergies, symptoms, etc. </p> <p>· Provide patient care as directed by the provider; this may include screenings, treatments in accordance with established standards. </p> <p>· Assisting providers with various procedures as needed. </p> <p>· Documents in the Electronic Medical Record and relays information/instructions to patient/family. Documents all interventions, phone calls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data. </p> <p>· Answering patient phone calls and messages, acting as a communication liaison between the patient and provider. </p> <p>· Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include filing or sending medical records to a patient or referral provider, appointment scheduling. </p> <p>· Collection and handling of lab specimens following established standards and practices. Adhere to infection control safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments, and stock supplies. </p> <p>· Utilizes electronic referrals process to complete requested physician referrals to NCHMD specialists and ancillary services. </p> <ul></ul> <p> </p> </p> <p><b style="font-size:1.6rem;background-color:transparent">EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS</b></p> <p>· Minimum of High School or GED required.</p> </p> <p style="text-align:justify">· Completion of Medical Assistant or practical nursing training program with documented clinical practicum hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience performing above duties in a medical office setting or medical capacity. </p> <ul></ul> <p>· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. </p> <p>· Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs. </p> <p>· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively articulate and explain required information to patients. </p> <p>· Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 codes. </p> <p>· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows </p> <p>· Knowledge of basic and specialty specific medical terminology. </p> <p>· Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a professional demeanor and control. </p> <ul></ul> <p> </p>
