About MN+A
MN+A is an Atlanta-based architecture, interiors, and design-build studio, and a National Trust for Historic Preservation affiliated practice. Our work is rooted in material, memory, and place. We believe honoring history shapes better futures, and that every project has a story worth telling well. We work across residential and commercial architecture, adaptive reuse and preservation, interior architecture, and construction, with a small, fully remote team that values authenticity, craft, and clear communication.

The role
We're looking for an Atlanta-based interior designer to be our presence on the ground. You'll work closely with our design team, visit project sites around metro Atlanta, and help carry projects from first ideas through to finished spaces.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing color stories, material palettes, and moodboards
  • Visiting sites to capture existing conditions through photos, measurements, and notes
  • Sourcing and procuring furniture, fixtures, finishes, and products
  • Preparing and delivering client presentations
  • Meeting with clients on site and representing the studio in person
  • Supporting the design team with documentation and project coordination as needed

Who you are

  • A confident self-starter who can take direction and run with it
  • A strong speaker and clear communicator, comfortable leading a conversation with a client
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-minded on site
  • Adaptable and eager to learn, open to feedback and new ways of working
  • Studying or trained in interior design, interior architecture, or architecture
  • Familiar with tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, SketchUp, or similar (a plus, not required)
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license

Pay + schedule

  • $25/hour for design, sourcing, and presentation work
  • $80 flat per site visit, covering travel and up to 2 hours on site within metro Atlanta. Additional on-site time is billed at the hourly rate
  • Independent contractor (1099) position
  • Flexible schedule with no set weekly hours. Work is scheduled around project needs and your availability

This role is a great fit for a senior-year design student looking for real-world experience around a school schedule, or a freelance designer looking for steady project work with a growing studio.

What you'll get

  • Hands-on exposure to architecture, interiors, preservation, and construction projects
  • Direct mentorship from the studio's design leadership
  • Supervised experience eligible for AXP hours, reported after six months with the studio
  • Portfolio-building work on real, built projects
  • Flexible, remote-first working culture

To apply
Please submit your resume and a portfolio or work samples, plus a few sentences on why this role interests you.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 10.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
  • Professional development assistance

Application Question(s):

  • A cover letter and portfolio are required. Applications without both will not be considered.

In your cover letter, please include:

A link to your portfolio (website, PDF link, Issuu, Behance, or similar)
A few sentences on why MN+A and this role interest you
Your general weekly availability, including your school schedule if you're a student

Please use the subject line or opening line "MN+A Site Designer" so we know you've read the full posting.

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
