About benefitbay®

benefitbay® is a technology company providing a unique insurance platform where brokers, employers and employees can purchase and enroll in individual medical and ancillary products in an easy-to-use employee benefit process. Our platform also has the analysis and banking tools to accommodate employers who are utilizing Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements to transition to a defined contribution benefit model.

Role Overview The FP&A Analyst is a key analytical hire within benefitbay’s Finance organization, reporting directly to the VP of Finance and working alongside our Accounting team. In this role, you’ll parse and clean complex datasets, build financial models, and think critically about what the numbers mean for the business.

As benefitbay moves through its next stage of growth, this person will play a direct role in improving forecast accuracy, strengthening our reporting infrastructure, and surfacing insights that inform pricing, staffing, and investment decisions across the company.

This role is ideal for someone early in their finance career (2+ years of experience) who is comfortable with ambiguity, energized by digging into messy data, and excited to be a part of scaling a fast-growing company at the intersection of healthcare and fintech.

Responsibilities

  • Own, build and maintain financial models and analyses used to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, partnering cross-functionally to gather and validate assumptions.
  • Assist in the preparation of month reporting packages, board materials, and other investor-facing collateral.
  • Collect, clean, and validate data from multiple systems to ensure accuracy and consistency across all reporting and analysis.
  • Identify and address opportunities to automate and streamline reporting processes, models, and data workflows.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Science, Math, the physical sciences or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in investment banking, business intelligence, FP&A or a similar role
  • General understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting concepts
  • Strong Excel skills; excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Some exposure to DOMO, SQL, or other data querying tools for working with large or complex data sets.
Preferred · Experience with financial planning or ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar).

· Experience integrating data with AI tools to accelerate data insights and improve decision making.

· Prior experience in a startup or other high-growth environment.

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
