Experienced Collision Repair Estimator Needed for Insurance Supplement Rebuttal Training

Other Jobs To Apply

No other job posts for this day.

I am specifically looking for someone with real-world, hands-on experience working on collision repair supplements and negotiating disputed items with insurance carriers.

I am new to the collision repair estimating industry, so the goal is for you to walk me through the process from the beginning using real-world examples.

For example, I want to learn how to:

Compare a body shop estimate/supplement with the insurance carrier's estimate or response.

Match corresponding line items between the two estimates.

Identify exactly what the carrier approved, reduced, changed, or denied.

Understand why the carrier made those changes.

Determine whether the shop has a valid basis to challenge each disputed line.

Use CCC ONE / Mitchell / Audatex information and estimating-system P-pages.

Use OEM repair procedures, DEG inquiries, photos, invoices, and other supporting documentation.

Determine when additional labor or a separate operation is justified.

Write a professional line-by-line rebuttal or supplement response to the carrier.

Understand what happens after the rebuttal is submitted and how subsequent negotiations/supplements are handled.

Real-world examples are required

I do not currently have enough claim examples to provide for the training.

You must therefore have access to real collision repair examples that you are legally permitted to share for training purposes, such as:

a shop estimate or supplement;

the corresponding insurance carrier estimate/revised estimate;

examples showing items the carrier reduced or denied;

preferably the shop's subsequent response/rebuttal;

and, ideally, the carrier's response or final outcome.

All customer, vehicle owner, claim, policy, VIN, contact, or other sensitive information can and should be redacted/anonymized.

I am not looking for confidential documents that you do not have permission to share.

Ideal background

You are a strong fit if you have several years of experience as a:

Collision repair estimator

Body shop estimator

Supplement writer

Collision damage appraiser

Auto damage adjuster/appraiser with strong shop-side experience

Collision claims/supplement specialist

Experience with CCC ONE is highly preferred. Experience with Mitchell and/or Audatex is also valuable.

I especially value candidates who have experience on both the repair-shop side and insurance-carrier side, because I want to understand how both parties evaluate disputed operations.

Format

I would like to work through real examples together over screen-sharing/video calls.

For each example, I want you to explain your reasoning as if you were training a new collision estimator:

“Here is what the shop requested → here is what the carrier changed → here is why → here is what I would challenge → here is the evidence I would use → here is what I would send back.”

This is primarily an educational/consulting engagement, not a request to simply prepare estimates for me. The initial scope is several paid training sessions. If it is a good fit, there may be ongoing work reviewing and validating supplement analyses and draft rebuttals.

When applying, please briefly describe:

Your collision estimating experience.

Whether you have worked shop-side, carrier-side, or both.

Which estimating systems you use (CCC ONE, Mitchell, Audatex, etc.).

Your experience preparing and negotiating supplements.

Whether you have anonymized/redacted real-world examples that we can use during training

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
