<strong>About This Position<br><br></strong>Approximately 52 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) in 2025, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. PHX is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $44 billion annually.<br><br>The City of Phoenix Aviation Department is seeking a highly motivated team member that will enjoy the high-energy environment of PHX. The Airport Access Agent's primary responsibility is to perform difficult and skilled specialized data entry work in support of Transportation Security Administration Security Administration (TSA) regulated aviation security operations and programs. This position is the primary contact for employees and vendors to obtain airport security badges.<br><br>Additional responsibilities include completing accurate data entry and maintaining records for security badge and credential applications, including handling applicant Personal Identifiable Information (PII), and ensuring all badging requirements are met. Customer service skills are required to handle face-to-face transactions along with strong computer skills and the ability to multitask daily.<br><br>Essential duties of this position include and are not limited to:<br><br><ul><li>Assign appropriate security access. </li><li>Answer phone calls regarding badging inquiries and information. </li><li>Receive, verify, and process airport security badge applications. </li><li>Update Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) results in badging records. </li><li>Receive and process various payments and refunds. </li><li>Fingerprint applicants on an electronic system, verifying quality for submission. </li><li>Process end-of-day closing accounting transactions to ensure proper account crediting and debiting. </li><li>Submit security clearances and issue credentials for drivers. </li><li>Front-counter customer service, entailing explanation of the badging requirements and assistance with documentation required. </li><li>Review and verify applicant documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with TSA and airport security requirements. </li><li>Support the day-to-day activities of the Public Safety & Security Badging Office, including assisting applicants in all phases of the security badging process. </li><li>Accept and evaluate identity documents as directed by TSA/Regulatory compliance; properly handles and safeguards Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Security Sensitive Information (SSI).<br><br></li></ul>IDEAL CANDIDATE<br><br><ul><li>Customer Service Skills.</li><ul><li>Ability to interact with employees, contractors, vendors, and external agencies in a professional and helpful manner in a face-to-face, one-on-one setting, and/or telephone, or email.</li></ul><li>Knowledge of Security and Access-Control Requirements.</li><ul><li>Understanding TSA, airport, or facility security regulations; familiarity with badge types, access levels, and compliance requirements.</li><li>Knowledge of airport rules, regulations, and security training programs.</li></ul><li>Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking.</li><ul><li>Ability to identify inconsistencies, resolve issues, and escalate concerns when needed.</li></ul><li>Professionalism and Discretion.</li><ul><li>Maintaining confidentiality and working with high levels of trust and integrity.</li></ul><li>Ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.</li><li>Ability to accomplish tasks while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.</li><li>Ability to use credentialing software, access¿control systems, and digital record¿keeping tools efficiently.<br></li></ul>SALARY<br><br>Pay Range: $21.97 to $30.92 per hour.<br><br>Hiring Range: $21.97 to $28.04 per hour.<br><br><strong>Pay Range Explanation<br><br></strong><ul><li>Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.</li><li>Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer.
